Love's Organic Produce

One spring day last year, I noticed some ground had been broken for a garden in an empty lot along Healdsburg Avenue. This lot is owned by Georgio's Restaurant, just south of the Russian River bridge and Memorial Beach, along the old highway leading to Windsor and Santa Rosa. This is a road I was traveling regularly then. It seemed no sooner had I noticed a patch of this long-neglected and brambled-over lot being plowed and rototilled than it had sprung full form to life as a verdant and vari-cropped truck farm.

People around town remarked on the transformation: "What's going on down at Georgio's?" Everyone wondered how a vacant space could become a thriving garden seemingly overnight.

Meet Ron Love and his girlfriend, Norma Novoa. This hardworking pair turned their attention to farming some years ago from their former trades of electrical engineering and accounting. They now provide the Healdsburg area with top-notch organic produce year-round from this one-half acre leased from the restaurant folks.

If you are interested in high quality organic vegetables for your table   and if you would like to see how they come to be there, all freshness and perfection from soil long idle by the side of the road   please stop by the produce stand. Or look for Love's Organic Produce at the Healdsburg and Sebastopol Farmers Markets.
