"Winter Fun Issue"

Welcome to our twelfth issue of a marketplace for California food, wine and art.

We have been enjoying a splendid dry, warm and almost summer-like fall here in Northern California. As the New Year approaches, we are still awash with autumn's color in the vineyards, around the towns, and up into the mountains. The North Bay area gardens are also full of flowers and winter vegetables as well as a few straggling peppers, tomatoes, and the hardier salad greens. I am sure our area farmers will be looking forward to our Pacific storms and normally abundant rainfall, but as the second week of December finishes out, we continue to have plenty of sunshine in the forecast. [Webmatster's note: Well, it sure started storming and raining right after Jack wrote this   but he was too busy bailing out to update this paragraph.]

This issue features a combination of items, stories and recipes from fall, as well as a new travel story and recipe from Chef Jack, "The Cat the the Octopus," some great new postcards from around the world, and loads of new links and updates! The Wine Tout pairs a Salmon dinner with Camellia Cellars' new '99 Cab in A Fall Meze for a Great Cabernet.

This quarterly online magazine of California food and wine arts will be published seasonally, posted on the solstices and equinoxes. We will introduce you year-round to the food and wine artisans, the picnics and the places which make Northern California wine country (and Sonoma County in particular) such a wonderful place to live and visit.

I intend for this fledgling publication to be a conversational and interactive journal of our lives and times in this most scenic and tasty part of the Golden State. It is to this end that I welcome your comments or contribution of words.

Let's Talk Business!

With the publication of this ninth issue we are entering our third year of providing a conversational and casual portal to the life and flavor of California's Wine Country. We have also arrived at a point where I believe the magazine needs to begin a search for a partner, business or nonprofit organization that would be able to capitalize on these good beginnings.

Interested parties should feel free to contact me by phone or email.
